Two decades of small bets, patiently kept.

SpiralOrbit has never been in a hurry. The company was registered in Washington in the mid-2000s and has been renewed every year since. Along the way it has filed a patent, run a Shopify storefront, shipped Windows Phone apps, and built the software platform that now powers three music properties. Some chapters closed. All of them taught us something we still use.

A provisional utility patent is filed for a "Mouse Pointing Device Hand Warmer": a sewn leather and textile dome that attaches to a mouse to keep the user's hand warm. The same year the company ships its first Windows Phone applications.

A letter from the founder

We build the things we wished existed.

SpiralOrbit started the way most family companies do: with a problem at the kitchen table. After a long career at Microsoft my wrists hurt every night, and a pair of wool-lined gloves one winter turned into a sewn sheepskin mitten, a patent filing, and eventually Warmwrist. I'm a designer, not a tanner or a seamster, so I found people in Tacoma who are.

The music properties came from a different itch. I wanted to see what happened when AI didn't just write a song but invented a whole band with a name, a look and a story. The wild part is that these bands get real streams. So we built the studio where anyone can make one, the jukebox where a bar can play one, and the daily channel where the world can discover one. They share one account because that is how I would want it to work.

Squatchy Picks exists because my fantasy league isn't standard, and neither is yours. Its rule from day one has been to log every prediction before kickoff and publish the grade afterward, whatever it says. That rule now applies to the whole company. If we can't prove it, we don't claim it.

Everything under this roof is still designed here, supported here, and paid for by customers rather than by selling their attention. That is the whole strategy, and we intend to keep it for the next twenty years too.
